The legalization of cannabis in Germany is a highly welcome move by the EU, although it does present some obstacles in terms of supranational legal frameworks. However, if the legislation is able to adhere to EU regulations then it would set an important precedent for decriminalizing and regulating cannabis across Europe. While Germany may become the first European country to regulate the sale of cannabis products, other member states must also adopt similar strategies for establishing a harmonized approach to legal cannabism within the EU.
